Total Media 3 software better than Media Center?
Turns out that at some point, mce had become confused on which frequency some of my channels were on, thus on a few of my channels I was getting no signal. It appears that if mce records a show and realises that it had no signal for an entire show, it deletes the show with no explanation whatsoever!

MCE Deleting Recordings Randomly
About 2 months ago I had an issue where no matter what I tried, the MCE Guide would not download the latest guide information, which pretty much rendered the MCE locks up too and forces me out. I was able to get into the Settings and try to go through the steps for connecting the signal, but nothing found.

Media center isn't playing while i am recording, and the receiver selection is on tape, however I am wondering about any loop back from the pc to receiver. You didn't reveal what output from the receiver you are using. Note that if you are using the "Tape Out" (or equivalent), then it likely has no signal when you

Media Center Madness (several problems)...
Whether or not its specific problem relates to ours, it does indicate that a "no signal" error in media center is not always a weak or no-signal problem. A week ago media center stopped displaying the HD channel and reported no signal. My TV continued to display the channel but it appeared with the 25.1 tag

... problem. i checked the frequencies that media center has stored, and that actual transmission frequencies. out of 71 channels, only 4 have the same frequency as the listed ones, and those are the only 4 that work. every other channel media center has stored is off by 1mhz, which is why its saying no signal when

Windows Media Center - ModifyDTV Chanels
I have tried reconfiguring TV signal several times, both by shutting down PC and restarting, and not shutting down.
