Media Center can not turn this box on, so you need to keep it on. In my household, it took me a while to get my wife used to not turning it off so at the start we got a lot of "no signal" recordings. If this is not your case, is the issue happening when coming out of sleep or hibernate mode?

(Total Media 3) I am in the Philly area and get over 20 digital channels off of an antenna with no skipping or pausing when I use the software that came with the card. When I go into Media Center and try to set it up, it finds perfect signal on 3 of those channels and no signal at all on the rest of them.

If the on/off signal is simply a toggle then if MCE sends the on/off signal will toggle the current state, risking turning OFF the STB if it was on. I was thinking that MCE should be able to tell if the STB is on by the kind of signal it receives from it (via the capture card), assuming that no signal would be sent

There are a few things that puzzle me about the design of these Media Center PCs. The media center will automatically resume from standy by, but cannot detect a tv signal. When I later manually resume, I see a message telling me that it could not record becuase no signal was detected, but when I click on Live TV, the signal is fine.
